Lauren is a multidisciplinary textile artist whose practice is the product of generational handicrafts, reimagining traditional textiles and their therapeutic nature through decolonial, queer and nonbinary lens. Their research-based practice explores the entangled themes of colonialism, borders, gender, intergenerational trauma and collective memory. Frequently, Lauren explores these themes through motifs of water and the parallel realities between humans and marine creatures, unraveling the binaries of colonialism, nationalism, and cisheteronormativity.
