textiles (re)member ?, 2025

A gathering and workshop funded by Moonee Valley City Council.

Through the art of weaving, textiles (re)member ? brings together threads of personal and collective history, creating tangible keepsakes that honour place, migration, and shared knowledge. This gathering was an invitation to connect with others as well as with your own memory and imagination. It’s an alternative to weaving and textile spaces that can often be dominated by colonial narratives - rather than focusing on technical skill, this is an offering to play with textiles.

Through simple weaving techniques, we explore how textile handicrafts can be an act of remembering your own stories by connecting to time-honoured practices, while also being a particularly beautiful portal to connecting with others socially.
